Writing to you from Oregon.
After completing 3 open water scuba dives one week ago, I had to head straight out of Texas to head to the Willamette fire complex here in Oregon.
It was a quick turn around, and a bit odd going from being in a murky Texas lake one day, to being on a fire in the forests of Oregon the next.
Travel wasn’t too bad either.
I took a flight to Denver, then another two hour flight to Eugene, and it was only an hour drive to get to fire camp.
My partner picked me up from the airport and told me that we’d actually be on the camp ambulance.
As the camp ambo we are responsible for responding to any medical events in camp, but we also have to spend the day hanging out in the medical trailer, which is stocked full of medical supplies.
When we are out on the fire line we don’t see too many patients, so being in the medical trailer was nice. There wasn’t anything crazy, but we did see poison oak on a guy’s face, an hour and a half long nosebleed, and plenty of differen…
