What I did this week (Week 50)

Writing to you from Burns, Oregon.
I don’t have too much time to write this, so I want to give you a relatively quick update on what I’ve been up to for the past week…
The Falls fire in Burns, Oregon is the first fire assignment I’ve ever been on as an EMTF. I had no real idea of what to expect, and I continue to learn more about the wildland fire world everyday.
I had just hiked Mount Massive near Leadville, Colorado last week. It was the most difficult hike I had ever completed. My plan for the weekend involved lots of food, taking warm baths, and getting sleep.
Well, things didn’t go as planned…and I’m glad for it.
I got a text from Tyler Olson from Minuteman EMS asking if I was still hiking 14ers or if I was free. Minutes later we talked on the phone and he told me to head to the airport that night to go to Oregon.
